Sykes Holiday Cottages is a business with big dreams and bursting with ambition. We have pinned our sights on becoming the UK's number one holiday rental agency and will stop at nothing to reach our goal, combining over 30 years’ industry experience with our fierce company drive to become the best in the market for what we do. What started as a small, family-run company has now grown to be an 2000-strong workforce of ambitious, passionate professionals working under the Forge Holiday Group parent brand. The Forge Holiday Group encompasses Sykes Holiday Cottages, Forest Holidays, UKcaravans4hire and Bachcare in New Zealand and unites us under four company values, which are the foundations of every aspect of our business and remain at the heart of everything we do. By Being One Team, Owning it, Communicating Honestly and showcasing a devotion to Learning, Growing and Innovating, we remain true to our original ethos and ensure we stay true to our Customers, Owners and Colleagues alike. Walking on Fire

Upping our game since 2023's charity Abseil Event, our ambitious employee's turned their sights to an unforgettable Charity Fire Walk at our Chester HQ, where 81 members of the team courageously stepped forward to support Hospice of the Good Shepherd and regional charities. Together, we raised over £19,000 to be shared across all chosen charities!

Supporting Chester Pride

As part of our Sustainability Partnership with Chester Pride, our colleagues donned their glad-rags and lined the streets of Chester to combine our environmental and social mission and advocating for inclusion and equality amongst the LGBTQ+ community. Our team spend two days litter picking, setting up, stewarding and marching alongside other local businesses. A fantastic day for an equally fantastic cause!

Growing our team

Another month means another new group joining the Sykes Cottages Family. This month we welcomed our newest faces across multiple teams and regional brands including Marketing, Customer Relations, Product, Technology, Data and Analytics and UX Design. A huge welcome to our new starters!

Showing our appreciation

As we enter our busy booking season, our call centre saw record call numbers across the department and to show our appreciation, colleagues from around the business stepped up in just about any way we can think of to keep our teams fuelled, providing a constant supply of food, drinks and HUGE thanks on behalf of the rest of the company!

Giving back to our community

As part of our impact mission to give back to our local community, colleagues across the business regularly make use of their volunteer days to make a positive impact on causes close to their heart. This month, members of our team gave their time to collect for Platform for Life - raising a very impressive £1,770! These are much-needed funds for a fantastic local charity, who provide access to mental health care for disadvantaged families across Cheshire.

We’ve adopted hybrid working within our teams and invested in technology to make this seamless. Where possible, our hybrid working roles allow our colleagues to work from one of our wonderful offices, remotely from home or a combination of both depending on what suits them!
